I am the PTA president of our school for a few years now. It is probably the only job that you can love and hate at the same time. Through my job I have found the truth in many old thoughts and sayings. Here is what I have learned.

1. No good deed goes unpunished. (Someone will find fault in at least one thing you did.)

2. If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. (Especially if you were not in charge of the event, did not volunteer or help out in anyway.)

3. Teachers and Parents both feel vindicated in their perspective feelings towards your child.

4. No school ever has enough money.

5. The last school that everyone attended was the best school in the world.

6. Many parents are very good at defending their lazy kids to the teacher but will not tolerate their behavior at home.

7. All school cafeteria’s and gym’s have the same aroma world wide. (The wet dog, stinky sneakers smell.)

8. Teachers know way more about you and your family than you think they know.

9. Parents know way more about the teacher and classroom than the teachers think they

 know.

10. Teachers should be appreciated and paid way more than they are. So should the PTA President! Volunteerism Schmeerism!

My dog’s name is Sampson a.k.a Professor Fluffy Pants. He is so cute and adorable but he is a master at making a mess on my floor when I am not looking. We are having big marital problems over my dog. My upset husband wants to get rid of my adorable fluffy creature that God created. I just don’t know what to do because I am stuck between a perky, cute, fluffy ball of love and my husband who is not fluffy or perky but is definitely cute. As the battle continues, I just try to keep the house smelling fresh when my husband comes home and hope that he doesn’t step on any doggie mess I couldn’t find. I think Fluffy Pants may go missing if it happens again. Watch for signs around my neighborhood. They will either say Missing or For Sale!

Todd and I have been married for seventeen years. Here is our secret. We go out every weekend on a date. Now, that sounds easy enough but it does take effort to get sitters, pay for them and then decide on something we BOTH would like to do. We have a serious nerdy date that is really our favorite. This is what we do. We both get massages at the same place but in different rooms. We decided it is NOT romantic to get a “couples massage”. Then, after strangers have relaxed us, we go to the bookstore and we each go to our individual sections and pick up books and browse through the store until we meet with armloads of things that interest us. Then, we share hot chocolate and desserts while we pour over our books. We may even throw in a discussion or two about our favorite books. Mature Discussion, imagine that! It is a nice evening of being together without really having any chance of arguing, discussion of the kids, or work. Marriage problems solved!
